As a “Buyers Agent” I represent you and only you as a possible buyer of property here. I do not represent the seller or the developer. All the commissions are paid by the sellers, so that my efforts cost you nothing. I do not take listings so that I am not tempted to steer you to any particular property. I promise to help you find the best possible property for your needs. In simple terms, I am on your side.
From Humming birds to American Eagles, and yes we have a club for that. St James Birdwatchers Club. An active group with some competition as to who can confirm the most sightings. The bluebirds on my porch and the Great Blue Heron on my roof. All are my photographs.
This is one of the most popular places in St James. A fun place to eat overlooking our marina. They even have music and dancing on the deck on Monday evenings. The food is good and the company is great. St.James residents do not have to go hungry, or even far to grab a bite to eat!
Executive Chef, Randy Tugwell always makes excellent meals whether it be casual dining, gourmet meals, or even “theme” nights. There is always something going on inside St.James Plantation in Southport, NC.
I would love to show off the restaurant and the area for you! Give us a call today!
Every summer there are almost two hundred sea turtle nests on the Oak Island and Caswell barrier Island beaches. Every morning volunteers walk the beach looking for new nests, and mark the locations on GPS. Then they dig down and remove one egg for DNA records. Then when the hatch is nearly ready the volunteers create a lined path for the hatchings back into the surf. And when they hatch the volunteers watch to see that they reach the water safely. Average nests of 120 baby turtles each mean that about 24,000 hatchlings are returned to the ocean every year from our beach alone. Survival rates are not that good and less than one in a thousand make it to maturity.
St James has a very fine fire department on site, including EMS service. So that in case of an emergency, just call 911 and help will be on the way very quickly. Also by having a fire department on site, you can rest assure any emergency situation will be attended to immediately! How many neighborhoods do you know of, that have that? Safety at it’s finest! They even a band of volunteers whom have been known to get up in the middle of the night, put flashing blinkers on top of their vehicles and drove to the scene of an accident to assist the fire engines or the police.
In addition there is a “Wellness Center” just outside the Sea Side gate, that has rehab services, including cardio. So that if you have had a physical problem and need to rehab, you don’t have far to go. The clinic is Dosher Memorial Hospital’s 12th facility in south Brunswick County, and is very welcomed in St.James. The 26,00 square foot facility houses all kinds of medical services. Highlights of the new center include physical and occupational therapy services, cardiac rehabilitation and family medicine and cardiology practices. There is also a small indoor walking track for cardiac rehab and physical therapy patients.
Took my eight year old grandson to visit the Battleship North Carolina last week. It was a thrill to visit for both of us. This battleship fought the entire World War II and even though it was attacked many times it was never severely damaged. It is on display in Wilmington.
The USS North Carolina (BB-55) is one of the most visited attractions in the state of North Carolina. Your trip down to our coast would not be complete without a visit to see it! It is not a far ride from St.James Plantation. Be sure to check out the history of the USS North Carolina. It is very much an attraction for all ages!
It was the fourth warship in the Navy to be named for the State of North Carolina. She is open every day of the year, including all holidays. The tour is self guided and you can go at your own place. Children and even adults can climb inside some of the cannons, and also see the living quarters of some of the bravest soldiers that ever lived. You can imagine yourself steering the ship, firing a gun, or starting the engine.
What most people don’t know is whenever you get off the USS North Carolina, you will have spectacular views of the Wilmington riverfront. The Riverfront boasts many unique shops, historic buildings, and you can even see the Coastguard vessel parked and in commission!
We just love living in St. James Plantation and what all of the surrounding areas have to offer! We hope you will too!
