If you like shrimp, it is easy to get fresh shrimp right off the boat. There are numerous shrimp boats based very close by and they pass St James both coming and going. Shrimp and grits is a favorite local dish and a favorite of mine. $5.50 a pound for the large size, at the local fish market, or right off the boat.
From Humming birds to American Eagles, and yes we have a club for that. St James Birdwatchers Club. An active group with some competition as to who can confirm the most sightings. The bluebirds on my porch and the Great Blue Heron on my roof. All are my photographs.
This is one of the most popular places in St James. A fun place to eat overlooking our marina. They even have music and dancing on the deck on Monday evenings. The food is good and the company is great. St.James residents do not have to go hungry, or even far to grab a bite to eat!
Executive Chef, Randy Tugwell always makes excellent meals whether it be casual dining, gourmet meals, or even “theme” nights. There is always something going on inside St.James Plantation in Southport, NC.
I would love to show off the restaurant and the area for you! Give us a call today!
Getting ready for this years US OPEN king mackerel Tournament. Last year we weighed in a 51 Inch fish which was plenty long, but had been on a diet and was way too skinney. Hope to do better this year. The two in these photos are close, but not quite heavy enough.
The founders course at St.James Plantation is a masterpiece designed by P.B. Dye. It is a challenge for all levels of golfers and a favorite course for the area.
The founders course upgrading is complete and reopened with a shot gun start last week. So golfers have all 84 holes available again. All four courses are in great shape and ready for you to play. The par 72 layout showcases water hazards, marshes, pot bunkers and undulating greens, and plays to 7,016 yards. In addition to the golf course, you will find putting greens, fully stocked pro shop, golfer pros, and clinics to help you with your game!
These are some of the nicest courses in the Carolina’s. Golf is extremely popular here in the Carolina’s due to the mild weather and all the willing participants throughout the St.James Neighborhood.
This is hurricane Harvey that just hit the Texas coast. I have been through ten hurricanes in the twenty three years I have lived in St James. I am not aware of any damage to a single house here in St James as a result of these ten hurricanes. All of the houses built here in the last thirty years have been constructed to a strict building code that anticipates possible hurricane winds and rain. We have 120 mph windows and doors. All roofs and walls are tied down to the footers and roofs need a sufficient pitch to prevent loss of shingles. Wind and hail insurance is required if you have a mortgage and a good idea anyway. I cannot say that hurricane damage will never happen here, but we are as well protected as we can be. I pray that the houses in Florida are as well built.
